Just the facts ma'am

I found this article on Kerri's blog, and I copied it to share with you guys. If you are 100% for Mccain , it wont change your mind. I know that. But it sure does make it CLEAR who is the more educated, loyal, more together, candidate is. Oh did you know 3 out of 5 people DON'T think Sarah Palin is qualified to be V.President? Seriously? Only 3 out of 5? :) She just bugs me. AND I dont think she is qualified to run. She may not think so either when she finds out what the REAL job is:) McCain will be more Bush. Period.

OK, Boss, Which would you Hire?
By Warren Hegg
(Copied from The
Oklahoma Observer, Oct 25, 2008)
What if John McCain were a former president
of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom
of his graduating class?
What if McCain were still married to the first
woman he said "I do" to? What if Obama were the candidate who left his first
wife after she no longer measured up to his standards? [Carol McCain was
crippled in an auto accident.]
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not
only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her
charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What
role would ethics play?
What if Obama were a member of the Keating Five?
What if Obama was censured by the U.S. Senate for unethical conduct?
What if
McCain were a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
If these questions reflected
reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they
are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes
positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another
when there is a color difference.
Boss...which team would you hire?
With
America facing historic debt, two wars, stumbling health care, a weakened
dollar, all-time high prison population, mortgage crises, bank foreclosures,
etc.
Educational Background
Obama: Columbia University, BA in Political
Science with a specialization in International Relations; Harvard, Juris Doctor
[JD] Magna Cum Laude.
Biden: University of Delaware, BA in History and BA in
Political Science; Syracuse University College of Law, Juris Doctor [JD]
McCain: United States Naval Academy. Class rank: 894 of 899.
Palin:
Hawaii Pacific University, one semester; North Idaho College, two semesters,
general study; University of Idaho, two semesters, studying journalism;
Matanuska Susitna College, one semester; University of Idaho, three semesters,
BA in journalism.
Now, which one are you going to hire?
PS: What if
Barack Obama had an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter...?

My 2cents~
If Barack's young daughter was pregnant,You never would have heard the end of it. They would have been low class , horrible parents. I think it should be off limits and was glad it was with Palins daughter. Also I dont think that ALL people who are chosing not to vote for Obama are racists, but many are. You cant change ignorance I guess. BUT many should look deep inside themselves and be SURE they arent not voting for Obama because he is black. That is like cutting off your nose to spite your face. (...that little quip is from my Italian grandmother :)

Also~Kerri pointed out that John McCain left his first wife , 7 years after being released from the POW camp and was cleared to be in the military again. So you cant defend his affair by his trauma. His first wife (Carol) was in a car accident and he had an affair with Cindy. Then he left Carol.

I will be glad when the election is over. It is really getting emotionally draining for the Country. But I feel strongly that this election will change our history. I am very excited about Obama. For our country, for my children, for our future.

Racism works both ways and I truly believe there are many more people voting for Obama just because he is black. You also can't seriously talk about McCain's wife being addicted to pain killers without considering the drug use (such as cocaine) that Obama enjoyed as a young adult. I don't love McCain, but Obama has way too much in his past to make me extremely uneasy with the direction he may choose to take our country. I met my husband in the Soviet Union before the fall of communism and I can guarantee you the socialist life is not what this country wants. And Obama's view on abortion is downright scary. Those are the facts that scare me.

No candidate is perfect, so it is unfair to report such a one-sided article. I can find you another one that makes it CLEAR that the other candidate is the most educated, loyal and together of the two.

There is no way anyone would have made those remarks about Obama's daughter, because she wouldn't have been pregnant long enough for anyone to know. He wouldn't punish them that way.

Some of his views are just too scary to even consider.

Wow - way to fire people up on a Monday morning. ;) Good for you! And I share your political views one hundred percent. I think for the previous posters to assume Obama's daughter would have had an abortion is speculative and ignorant. He is not "pro-abortion" he is pro-choice in an area that he knows HE shouldn't be the one making the decisions for. And that is just one issue in this whole complicated job of running the country. I absolutely think racism has tainted this election. Obama is an intelligent, thoughtful, well-rounded LEADER who is going to do great things for this country - I think in more ways than we can even anticipate right now. He is also someone who has walked the walk as far as "family values" go and I wish more people would set aside their pre-conceived notions and politics for a moment to go with the obvious choice in this election. I don't find any of his views "scary" - it's the lies and ignorance that have been circulated by uniformed or else just malicious people that are scary. Come one everyone - are you kidding me here?!

Glad you liked the article. I must say, based on the previous commenters, that I always find it interesting that antichoice people always assume that teens are forced to abort but never forced to continue their pregnancies. I have seen it. It happens. Forcing in either direction is just wrong.

I just hope Obama supporters are ready to "share the wealth". I personally think my taxes are generous enough! I don't believe Obama will keep his tax hikes to just those making 250K. As far as being Pro-Life, has any pro-death person ever heard of birth control?

I don't like stuff like this because it is so one sided and obviously in favor of Obama. Somebody could make up something just like it in favor of McCain and make Obama look awful.

And Bristol Palin's pregnancy was all of the news and tabloids. It should have been off limits but people printed about it anyways and made their family look like terrible people.

And I have a lot of respect for McCain because he has publicly stated that his affair and divorce was a mistake and he regrets it. And we all know that we can't change the past. He has apologized for it to his ex-wife and she has forgiven him. All this is public knowledge but people still use it against him.

And where a person gets and education or how much education they have doesn't make them a good leader or executive. My father only holds a degree from a small college and now runs a company. Can't judge him by where he went to school because he is now extremely successful and very good at what he does.

Stuff like this is just one-sided and silly and I hope nobody makes a decision based on it.

Alexandra said...

also, I don't think anyone could say my voting for McCain is because I am racist. *winkwink

Amen. I don't mind reading stuff that is factual and represents both sides, but that was extremely biased!

I also find it offensive to be called ignorant. I think ignorance is not looking at both sides of the issue fairly.

I am thankful to live in this country, because I can choose to vote for who I believe will best represent and further the values and beliefs I hold most dear. If someone's belief on an issue is so far off from mine, then yes they are a little scary to me.

I wonder the same thing...come on everyone, are you kidding me here?

WOW Maria you sure have the knack of getting everyone fired up!! I'm glad you didn't write the article, only borrowed it from another... I'm sure the other poster is correct that there are articles favoring McCain in the same manor -kinda like the fliers printed by republican interest, sent to the low income homes (forgot what state) stating no need to vote again if you voted in the primaries... It's become a dirty race to the end- BOTH parties equally guilty! It's a shame that they spend so much money on campaigning and bad mouthing the other party - I believe racism is definitely involved in this race.. both ways - I've heard many state they are voting McCain because they aren't ready for a black man to run our country - I've also seen random interviews with people on the street, (black men & women) stating they are SO excited to have a black candidate (as they should be) and are voting for Obama. I for one, am happy to see that our country has come so far that we actually do have a black candidate for President - and that we also had a woman! I would love to see a candidate just state his/her views on the important/key issues and NOT waste so much time & money on campaign ads pointing out what they think is wrong with the other candidate!

Oh well, I voted and I hope everyone that has the right to vote, gets out there and does so! It will be done tomorrow night - may the best candidate win - best meaning the best for our country overall, not just who you or I may think is best!
(I still think we should have co-presidents with a representative for the republican & democratic party - but I know that will never happen!)
Happy Voting!

Ok...didnt think I would become public enemy #1 for re-printing an article. I know a few of you are stressed out but why take it out on me? It is my blog I can put info out there. If anyone wants to put some Mccain facts on THEIR blog go for it.I promise to not be harsh. I was brave enough to put myself out there..and take the hits for it. AND for the record, I have always been kind to you and respectful of your views, whether I shared them or not, so step back and calm down k? Michelle~ I am not sure HOW you know for sure Obama's would FORCE his young daughter to have an abortion? Maybe she wouldnt even be having pre-marital relations? He is pro-choice that is NOT the same as pro-abortion. You seem to attack me quite a bit, not sure why, since you do not know me at all. You have judged me baised on my choice for president! Seriously? I am NOT pro-abortion , I would appreciate it if you didnt make it out that way. For me and my family it is not an option. But I am also not in a place to control peoples lives or judge them either. GOD is. You always jump on me but dont say anything kind? Why? I tried to support your journey...good and bad.
There are many reasons people make choices and until YOU (anyone) have been in there shoes or the shoes of their young daughters/women who have been violently abused YOU can not make the choice for them. If someone loves Mccain and thinks he is the right choice. Awesome. Vote for him. If you DONT , vote for Obama. (Of course there are reasons people chose to not vote for Obama based on race, but some (that is what the article said) are using the race issue.) BUT dont be hateful and unkind just because someone doesnt agree with you. I welcome other sides to chime in , and I listen and try to learn, but dont get mean. You dont know if I am wrong. You only know you dont agree with me. BIG difference. Have you stepped out of your comfort zone? Have you worked with abused women, do you know what they feel ? Or do you just sit back and judge? I cant judge anyone. That is not christian. And for the record I am NOT glad anyones daughter is pregnant. I didnt say that. I am sure Palins daughter will raise her child with lots of love. I hope it works out for all involved. I did say it is not anyones business and I have never made a negative comment about it. I know this is a hot topic but I think it is important to talk about it. Alex I know you have your reasons for voting for Mccain :) we're still friends heehee... :) Maria

I didn't mean for my comment to offend you......I was stating my opinion about Obama. I am NOT judging anybody!!! Obama himself said that IF one of his daughters got pregnant he wouldn't want them to be punished with a baby. AND that is a big IF. I wouldn't call leaving comments about the election attacks on you. We have a different opinion on this. I thought you liked getting people comments and opinions....you sometimes even ask for them. I wouldn't have ever commented if you didn't open it up to everybody's opinions.
I think your family is GREAT and I am so glad that we are like minded when it comes to orphans and adoption.
I NEVER meant to make you mad. I won't comment on the election anymore on here.
I will also delete my comment that caused this problem.
You have the right to voice your opinion on your blog.
I am sorry if I offended you. I guess we can't be political friends BUT we can be when it comes to our children:)

Maria,

I certainly was not taking anything out on you personally or attacking you in any way. If you post politics, you have to be prepared for people not to agree, especially with the election this year. You always post political things and encourage discussion. I thank you for letting people talk about things, express their opinions and disagree.

Obama is the one who made the comment about not punishing his children if they were pregnant. I react to anyone who calls a baby "punishment."

I know you are not the one to call me ignorant. I was responding to Melany and I should have made that more clear. You have never resorted to name calling, nor would you!

I too will be glad when today is over and the heat of the elections dies down. We all feel so strongly about our beliefs and I am thankful that we live in a country that allows us to express them openly. We all can just agree to disagree.

Well, I will clarify too... I was using "ignorant" in the true sense of the word: "lacking knowledge or information as to a particular subject or fact". Saying Obama's daughter wouldn't be pregnant long enough for anyone to know...is (to me)speculative and perhaps ignorant. How does anyone know what any other person would do unless they are the one in the situation? So - I wasn't using this term in a "name-calling" way... I was really just saying I don't think anyone KNOWS what would happen if Obama's daughter got pregnant. It sounds like Obama would like her to have a choice on the matter. I don't see that as wrong.

This is obviously a VERY tough subject to disagree nicely on... but I really am not the type of person to name call and argue in that manner and I'm sorry it came across as such. It is just obviously something I'm passionate about - as are the rest of you posting here. ;)

I am so glad we cleared this up. I am on vacation and checked in this morning and was a bit ...surprised. Michelle and Amy I DO love the debate, I just felt like the comments were getting directed at me in a judgemental way and that I didnt care for. I dont have hard feelings. DO comment and debate, I am not sensitive to someone disagreeing with me, I think it is healthy and I love to see what others feel passionately about. It passes the time ya know? We are all friends no worries !

WOW! Who would have ever thought a black man would become President of the United States?!? (no offense meant, no racism, no nothing) I'm SO proud of our country at this moment! Next up will be a woman president! So sad that his grandma couldn't live just a couple more days, to not only see history happen before our eyes, but to see her grandson be voted President of the United States of America!!

I'm surprised at the American people...getting caught up in wanting 'change'...now granted you'll get change but I'm betting it won't be the change you wanted. I agree wholeheartedly with tnkerry's comment above.
